Golf is often viewed as an individual sport, but many of the game’s most rewarding experiences come through teamwork and shared success. Whether it’s a best friend, sibling, coworker, spouse, or longtime playing partner, the people we tee it up with can inspire confidence, provide encouragement, and help us perform at our best.
In this video, golfers from the 2026 BDO National Golf League championship explain what makes their teams work and how they are able to achieve more together than alone.
Four players from Saskatchewan were awarded the opportunity to compete at the NGL Championships as well.
Lori Beale, Barbara Dean, Ron Neustaeter, and Ron Bailey earned the opportunity through the provincial qualifier last September.
Beale, who plays at the Royal Regina Golf Club had this to saw about the experience.
Overall, it was an amazing and unique experience. I am extremely grateful to Golf Saskatchewan and the NGL for this opportunity. I appreciated the timely communication and from a project management perspective, the committee did an outstanding job of making us feel welcome and ensuring that we were well taken care of. It was a well organized event, and I appreciated the amount of work and effort that was put into it. Every worker and volunteer that I met was very helpful and kind.
This is a must see and must do experience of a lifetime for all golfers. I highly recommend that more golf clubs provide this opportunity to their memberships. This is one of the few national golf events for recreational golfers of all handicaps. I hope that participation grows so that we could have a separate category for the ladies and a mixed team event.
The highlight of the weekend was watching the two top teams’ playoff for first place and a terrific prize! We were sitting in the RBC stands watching the playoff of the 18th hole of the TPC Osprey North while servers provided us with drinks and appetizers. It was wonderful and exciting and thoroughly enjoyed the banter. One of the players had a 29 handicap – chants of “one of us” was heard in the stands.
Every year we have different events in the province, and each club will “pay” for their representative team to participate in the event. However, we didn’t have much of a turnout last September at the Royal Regina to determine the provincial team to send off to Toronto. I think that there were only five ladies’ teams? And they each had to pay for their own golf and associated fees. I really hope that this event continues to grow.
Dean is also a member at the Royal, she was equally impressed with the event.
I would like to thank the NGL organization for the opportunity to participate in this event. The meals and accommodations for the tournament were wonderful. Their hospitality was first class all the way!
It was wonderful to meet and interact with golfers from other courses across Canada.
TPC Toronto Osprey Valley has gorgeous facilities. Playing the Heathlands course was very challenging and the 60 kilometre per hour wind blowing didn’t help but it was an opportunity of a lifetime to be a part of this tournament.
I would encourage all golfers, no matter what your handicap is, to participate in qualifying for this event. NGL gave us a wonderful experience treating us like Professionals! Thank you so much! It was Awesome!
The Saskatchewan NGL final will be held at Tor Hill Golf Course in Regina on Sept. 17.
