Over 60 golfers travelled to Hillcrest Golf Club Saturday for the Champions Cup, the ultimate team event that wraps up the provincial tournament season.
Moose Jaw’s Hillcrest was host of the third running of the event that allows member clubs to send up to eight players (four of each sex in the junior, amateur, senior, and super senior categories) if they hosted a championship at their club level.
Players use a Stableford Points system and compete in each category plus chase the team prize, the Champions Cup that was retained by Wascana Country Club for the third straight year. Wascana edged the Royal Regina Golf Club by just two points in the one day event. The host team from Hillcrest was third.
The age group winners were:
Tayla Perry (Wascana) (JR Women’s) 17 Points
Alex Schmidt (Royal) (AM Women’s) 32 Points
Kim Walker (Wascana) (SR Women’s) 32 Points
Lori Beale (Royal) (SSR Women’s) 14 Points
