Rodgers laps field on route to first Lobstick victory

Ken Rodgers’ Hall of Fame resume got another bullet point after the Regina product cruised to a Senior Men’s Lobstick win this past week at Waskesiu Golf Course.

The reigning Saskatchewan super-senior (65+) champion shot rounds of 67, 69, and 72 over three days at Waskesiu from June 2 to 4 to win the event by 10 shots, his first career Lobstick win.

Rodgers was the only player to break 70 in the event, and he did it in both the first and second round to get his name etched into Lobstick history.

Golf Saskatchewan spoke with Rodgers recapping the win and week at Waskesiu.

The super senior category was won by Doug Kozak. Originally from Regina, the Waskesiu member also won by a large margin.

Kozak posted a 54-hole score of 213 (72, 70, 71) to win by nine shots over John Baron.

The Men’s Lobstick Open began on Monday.
