In May First Tee – Prairies (FTP) welcomed Melville Golf & Country Club as their newest program location.
Members Chantelle Armstrong and Cyanna Callfas attended Community Golf Coach and First Tee Level 2 training in Winnipeg, therefore will lead the program at Melville. Summer/fall program dates are still to be determined. School and community outreach will take place in the fall.

Jason Schneider concluded the spring program at Wildwood Golf Course at the end of May. Wildwood continues to be our most popular site in Saskatchewan, as registration filled in only hours, all with students of partner schools. As interest continues to grow for this site, FTP will be beginning to look for additional coaches and/or another site in Saskatoon, to combat the demand for the program.
First Tee coach, Jason Muller, recently attended First Tee Level 3 training in BC. With this certification, it will allow FTP to begin offering the First Tee program to youth aged 14+. The pilot program in Regina will be taking place this summer at Lakeview Par 3 Golf Course.

The First Tee program is now underway at Riverside Country Club. The program began last Tuesday (June 2), where FTP were joined by 24 enthusiastic youth from the YMCA of Saskatoon, who were all experiencing golf for the first time. Thanks to David Dube’s contribution to FTP chapter, registration fees were waived, and transportation will be covered for all participants week over week. FTP were fortunate to also have the June 2 session be sponsored by our new national partner, Adidas. Therefore, the participants were gifted some First Tee – Prairies Adidas swag and had fun posing for our photographer.
FTP is grateful for Riverside’s hospitality and hope the success for this program can bring future First Tee programs to Riverside for years to come.

Ahead of the start of the First Tee YMCA program at Riverside Country Club, a notice was sent to membership informing them of the program taking place on Tuesday evenings. This had resulted in a few online donations and members interested in learning more about the First Tee program. In addition, Riverside member and First Tee volunteer, Monique Devine, hosted a small fundraiser on behalf of First Tee – Prairies that brought more awareness to our chapter. FTP are grateful for the recognition and will continue to nourish these relationships.
