Lac Pelletier Golf Course is nominating Shelley Orr for the Club Volunteer of the Year.
Nominator Nikki Perkins has worked alongside Orr for half a dozen years at the club. Perkins had this to say about Shelley.
“I have been on the Lac Pelletier Golf Committee for going on six years and have found it to be a very rewarding yet time consuming side hustle. Since I have been on the committee we have gained volunteers and lost a few and they have all been very important but there is one specific volunteer that has been and remains to be invaluable, a lady named Shelley Orr.
Shelley came to us with a wealth of golfing knowledge, a steady and constant forward motion energy, and a general Jane of all trades aura. There seems to be nothing that Shelley is not capable of doing. Computer work, networking with businesses in the area for support, initiating a “Golf League” out here at the lake where golfers are recognized for improving their handicaps, initiating a junior golf lesson day annually which morphed into an actual junior league with their own tee distances for every hole. Shelley is also the main organizer of our ladies nights every Wednesday during the season as well as the Matriarch on our committee for golf tournament prepping, someone needs to keep all of our ducks lined up and keep all of our squirrels working together and that is Shelley!
Keeping us all organized on every minute detail is something that Shelley doesn’t complain about and we are so grateful! Shelley has spearheaded a sub committee to plan, order and plant replacement/enhancement trees out on our golf course. Our course thrives currently with Shelley’s volunteer spirit but the future of our course is also brighter thanks to the involvement of this lady!
It is for these and other countless reasons that I/we believe that there is no other volunteer in this province that is better suited for this award than our very own Shelley Orr. On behalf of our entire golf committee we hope that you will consider her for this years VIP “Volunteer of the Year.”
