It’s a long ways from Wynyard, Sask. to Palm Desert, California, but a well worth it trip for Wynyard’s Alyxa Melsted.
Melsted, 13, competed in the Callaway World Championships last week (July 13-15) and performed fantastically shooting three rounds in the 70’s, in doing so she accomplished her goal.
She signed for rounds of 74, 76, and 79 to finish tied for 50th as a first year competitor in the under-15 age group.
Melsted was one of five Canadians competing in her age group with players from a dozen different countries.
She spoke with Golf Saskatchewan about her start in golf, getting into tournament play, and the hopes of playing college in the future.
