The Saskatchewan Amateur Championships wrapped up last week at Golf Kenosee with some history making results
Grace Odnokon completed the Saskatchewan sweep on Thursday claiming the Saskatchewan Amateur Women’s Championship. The 16-year-old is the first double winner in Saskatchewan since 2020 (Brooklin Fry) and also joined her mom Carla on the amateur trophy becoming the first mother-daughter duo in Saskatchewan history.
Odnokon is currently in Mississauga, Ont. for the Canadian Amateur Women’s Championship that will begin on Tuesday at the Toronto Golf Club.
Saskatoon’s Connor Scissons used a Golf Kenosee record breaking round of 9-under par, 63 on the third day to fight back from seven strokes back to become the 2026 Saskatchewan Mid-Amateur champion. He joins his grandfather, the legendary Jim Scissons on the mid-am trophy.
Scissons ended up sixth overall in the amateur, but was proud to join his mentor and grandpa on the President’s Cup.
Austin Nesbitt of Pilot Butte, Sask. also etched his name into the Saskatchewan amateur golf record books. He became the first junior and youngest winner ever in the event at just 15 years old.
The Wascana Country Club member also became the first Wascana player since Hall of Famer Tyler Wright won in 2017.
