Bell; Swan take trophies at Reliance Gregg’s Central Am

This past weekend the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club (SGCC) played host to almost 100 amateurs and seniors for the Reliance Gregg’s Central Amateur.

This year Jonny Bell took the amateur title while Ron Swan was the victor in the senior open.

Bell, a member at the SGCC defeated Bennett Scissons and defending champion Jesse Gibson in a playoff on Sunday afternoon. All three were tied 2-over par, 146 through 36 holes.

Zachary Szakas placed fourth, two shots back of the playoff. Shaun Dunphy rounded out the top five at 6-over par, 150.

Swan, a Regina resident and member at the Wascana Country Club also won the event in a playoff. He edged fellow Reginian Ken Rodgers. Both two at 2-under par, 142 after two rounds.

Rick Hallberg of Weyburn was third at 2-over par, 146.

SGCC members Brian Humble and Milt Grolla tied for fourth at 150.
