The fourth Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) event in Saskatchewan took place on the weekend at Tor Hill Golf Course in Regina.
It was a big weekend for the Lee family out of the Queen City, both Yuna and Jun were winners in their respective age groups.
Yuna won the 15 – 19 year-old women’s division with a 36 hole score of 157 after rounds of 78 and 79. Tayla Perry, also of Regina was second at 160 (85, 75).
Arwen Mosher (Saskatoon) and Miranda Merriman (La Ronge) tied for third at 169.
Jun won the under-15 men’s division by a solid seven shots with a two day score of 150 (72 78).
Kai Axten of Redvers tied Swift Current’s Jace Munro for second place at 157. Jett Meckolborg of Riverside Estates was in the hunt for a podium spot at 160 placing fourth.
In the under-15 women’s category Alyxa Melsted continued her perfect season with a win in every event entered. The Wynyard Golf Club member is four for four as she won the tournament by 13 shots. Melsted shot 88 in round one and 80 in the second round.
Tied for second at 181 was Clara Zhang of Saskatoon and Calgary’s Alexis Leung.
Speaking of perfect seasons, Hudson Deibert of Regina is also batting .1000 in the win department. He outpaced the under-13 division by 13 shots over Jackson Orr of Corman Park with a score of 148 (74, 74).
The win is Deibert’s is his fourth this year in four events. Cohen Bridge of Saskatoon was third just behind Orr at 162.
The overall men’s championship came down to a playoff between Jace Olson of Humboldt and Austin Nesbitt of Pilot Butte with Olson coming out on top on the second hole.
Both players were tied at 150 through 36 holes before settling the under-17 and overall championship on the men’s side.
Chrstian Leung of Calgary rounded out the top three in the under-17 category.
Saskatoon’s Kolton Spenst was the top uner-19 shooter finishing at 154 (79, 75). The next under-19 player was Dayton Vickaryous of Moose Jaw at 159 (81, 78).
Cody Ross of the R.M. of Dundurn placed third at 160 (78 82).
