Mosher wins third NextGen championship; Odnokon just misses in a playoff

For an incredible third time, Saskatoon’s Ryan Mosher has won a NextGen championship.

On Sunday, the 18-year-old edged Luke Bernakevitch (the son of four-time Saskatchewan amateur men’s champion Lindsay) in the first playoff hole at Neepawa Golf and Country Club. This is Mosher’s second NextGen win of 2026, and his second NextGen Prairie Championship win after taking the event in Thunder Bay, Ont. in 2024.

Both Mosher and Bernakevitch, who is from Victoria where Lindsay in the Head Professional at the Victoria Golf Club, were tied at 7-under par, 209 through 54 holes before Mosher earned the win on the first playoff hole.

Aricin Franklin was tied for third, Ethan Hunter placed seventh.

Also placing in the top 20 was Lucas Sturgeon in eighth, Shae Maunula claimed a top 10 spot with a ninth place finish, Brady Guenther tied for 14th, and Austin Nesbitt tied for 19th.

In the junior women’s championship, Grace Odnokon was on the losing end of a playoff against Serin Girard of Richmond, British Columbia.

Both players were at 226 after three days, the playoff was also decided on the first hole.

Tayla Perry of Regina had a nice event placing seventh, Alyxa Melsted was ninth continuing her excellent season, Ada Dillon also made the cut and tied for 10th.
