Wills sets pace at Junior Women’s Championship; Hunter hangs with defending champion in Junior Men’s Championships

Day one is complete at the 2025 Saskatchewan Junior Golf Championships at the Lloydminster Golf and Curling Centre.

In the race for the junior women’s overall championship Chloe Wills of Kyle, Sask. is on top of the leaderboard with an opening round of 8-over par, 80 on Tuesday. The reigning under-17 Saskatchewan champion has a one stroke lead on Regina’s Yuna Lee who opened the 54-hole event with a 9-over par, 81.

Lee is the leader of the under-17 age group, Grace Odnokon of Saskatoon sits second in the age group after an opening round of 83, Odnokon is tied for third overall with Sarah Henderson, another Saskatoon golfer.

In the under-15 women’s age category Yoyo Zhu of Saskatoon has the lead after the first of three rounds. Zhu shot 83 in round one Tuesday, she’s eight strokes ahead of Alyxa Melsted of Wynyard.

Round two of the Junior Women’s Championships will begin at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday.

In the Junior Men’s Championship there is a tie at the top of the leaderboard at 2-under par.

Defending champion Ryan Mosher of Saskatoon is deadlocked with Casa Rio, Sask. player Ethan Hunter. Both shot 2-under par 70 on the opening day of the 99th edition of the junior men’s tournament.

Aricin Franklin of Saskatoon and Prince Albert junior Wyatt Nelson each shot 1-over par 73, they are tied for third overall.

Hunter leads the under-17 age category, Franklin and Nelson are tied for second in the group.

The under-15 age group is led by Austin Nesbitt of Pilot Butte. He shot 3-over par 75 giving himself a three stroke cushion on Melville’s Keaton Kreklewich, he’s at 78.

In third is Humboldt junior Tylan Wallin at 7-over 79.

Two players are competing in the under-13 men’s category, Cohen Bridge of Saskatoon has a one shot lead on Regina’s Hudson Deibert. Bridge shot 86, Deibert fired an 87.

Round two of the Men’s Junior Championships will begin at 7:20 a.m. on Wednesday.
